McComb, Mississippi, USA – Shuowei has successfully completed the installation and commissioning of its high-frequency vacuum wood drying kiln at a local sawmill in McComb. This achievement marks a significant step forward in modernizing wood processing technology in Mississippi’s thriving forestry sector. With its fast, stable, and energy-efficient performance, the kiln is expected to deliver both technological upgrades and strong economic benefits to the region.
Mississippi’s Forestry Strength and Southern Yellow Pine
In the southern United States, Mississippi stands out for its vast forests and favorable climate that nurture Southern Yellow Pine (SYP). Woodworkers and industries across the region value this species for its:
- Durability – excellent resistance to wear and pressure.
- Strength – superior load-bearing capacity.
- Moisture and Stain Resistance – making it ideal for outdoor applications.
From fencing and barns to furniture and interior finishes, Southern Yellow Pine plays a vital role in the state’s forestry economy, supporting jobs and local communities.
Drying Trial: From Fresh-Cut to Ready-to-Use in Just Five Days
The McComb project focused on 1.5-inch freshly sawn Southern Yellow Pine boards with an initial moisture content above 60%. Mill owner Steve Corban immediately loaded the green lumber—about 2,800 board feet per cycle—into Shuowei’s high-frequency vacuum kiln.
Unlike conventional kilns, this system does not require stickers between boards, which significantly increases load capacity and simplifies handling. With an electric lumber cart, the wood was smoothly transferred into the vacuum chamber, and the drying cycle began under the supervision of Shuowei’s installation engineer, Boris.
In only five days, the wood reached a stable 6–8% moisture content, delivering consistent and defect-free results.
Customer Feedback: “A Game-Changer for Our Sawmill”
Steve Corban expressed his satisfaction after the trial:
“Shuowei’s HF vacuum kiln truly lives up to its promise. Drying green Southern Yellow Pine from over 60% down to 6–8% in just five days is remarkable. The quality is excellent, and the process even eliminates pests—you can see the insects discharged with the extracted water. For us, this is a game-changer.”
Why Shuowei’s HF-Vacuum Kiln Stands Out
- Fast Drying – 5–10 times faster than conventional kilns.
- Uniform Results – moisture content is balanced from core to surface.
- Defect-Free Quality – reduced risk of warping, cracking, or staining.
- Eco-Efficient – lower energy consumption with higher yield.
- Insect Eradication – natural sterilization during the drying process.
