When I am trying to bring the concept of machine wood drying to my clients, I always find that the customer will be very interested and express ideas like‘ Wow, it is impressive!’ ‘ How can wood drying be so easy！’‘I never imagined there could be so many advanced technologies in wood drying！’ that is why I decided to write this passage to show how wood drying could be easy fast and high quality with the help of Shuowei high frequency (radio frequency) vacuum wood dryer.
In fact, the new technology has greatly changed people’s lives, like a long time ago, traveling to a place far away, the only way is walking, it will be rough and may take years, then we have bikes the requirements are lower, anyway, it is far away from easy and comfortable for traveling a long way until we have cars and high way, traveling became our daily life, the same goes like in wood drying, Air drying is easy but takes 1-2 years and the quality is not guaranteed because the nature is unpredictable and kiln drying is based on the efforts and experience of your workers, because there are any differences in the stickers, stacking methods, drying speed will cause a significant defect. 1. About the high frequency or Radio frequency drying
Shuowei wood dryer is equipped with a high-frequency generator and it could release 6.78 Mhz waves during the lumber, High frequency is also called radio frequency. Its heating principle is the same as microwave, but its wavelength is different which allows better penetration. A High-frequency generator generates electromagnetic fields between two electrodes through a three-phase alternating current. In this field, water molecules are polarized – rotated – heated by friction, Thus offering a significant reduction in drying times. In many cases, as little as 1/10th of the time kiln drying is required
What is interesting is that during this process the insect (eggs) and moldings will be killed, and another advantage is that in this way although the drying is much faster there will be no stress in the wood, which means better quality.
- About Vacuum drying technology
With the help of vacuum pumps, the drying oven made of stainless steels will be in a vacuum status, the vacuum pressure is -0.093 Mpa, under vacuum condition, wood moisture can be boiled at 50-60 degree and vaporize rapidly, which can save both time and energy.
Low temperature wood drying can guarantee wood quality to avoid crack problem. Many test shows that the defect of wood is directly related to the high temperature and dry air.

- About the energy consumption
The lab test shows that using SW machine to dry Mahogany from 50% to 8% MC , per CBM wood will cost 80-140 Kwh( based on the species and wood thickness) while for kiln drying this data will be 180-240 Kwh, This is not a secret in the technician,but it appears that machine will cost more in production, the reason is people tend to compare the consumption per day rather than the total need. And it seems you could put anything into the boiler to get heat, anyway you need one worker to operate the boiler this is also a bill for you, and just see the smokes there and the dirty environment , you will know which one is more effective

- About the hydraulic pressure system
To best make sure the drying process, this machine adopts the hydraulic pressure system on the top of the machine to supply more than 6 tons presser on the wood stacking to prevent wood deforming and bending. which better control the quality
- About the drainage There is a high efficient drainage system in this machine, it includes pumps, cooling tower, and stainless steel pipes, you will find the water in the wood keeps running out.
- A conclusion of the performance
This machine could well handle different wood species with different sizes, it is of obvious benefit in some thick and hard-to-dry woods. For 4″ thickness ash slab from 30-40%MC only take 5 days to get 4-8%MC, For 2’’ thickness Mahogany from 50-60%MC only take 6 days to get 6-8%MC, and for 2” Pines, only 4 days needed to dry from fresh cut to 7% MC.
